Established in 2008, Universal Designs, Inc. brings together two complementary divisions—Build (material specifications) and Interiors (furniture layout, décor, and lighting)—to deliver singularly luxurious, highly functional environments. We partner with architects, contractors, artists, and craftsmen to challenge convention and craft spaces that are as unique as the people and brands they serve.
Led by Deanna Cash—whose 25+ years of experience span custom homes, material-selection consulting, and boutique commercial refreshes—Universal Designs has earned industry awards and lifelong client relationships through an unwavering commitment to creativity, quality, and collaboration.
Meet the Team
Deanna Cash, Principal Designer and Founder
Before founding Universal Designs, Deanna sharpened her technical expertise as a CAD (Computer Aided Design) specialist for electrical contractors and later led the engineering team for a local electrical manufacturer—experience that honed her precision, systems know-how, and fluency with advanced modeling tools. Early in her career, she also contributed to select CAD projects for the globally recognized architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Their interest in expanding the collaboration affirmed her strong technical foundation—though she ultimately chose a more personalized path that allowed her to develop the intuitive, client-centered approach she’s known for today.
She went on to earn her degree from the Harrington Institute of Interior Design and complete an internship at Chicago’s iconic Merchandise Mart, then spent over 25 years crafting interiors and advising on material selections.

This paid consultation sets the tone. We discuss your vision, priorities, and investment goals to determine if we’re the right fit — and how best to move forward.
2. Programming Phase
Discovery, documentation, and design development.
We begin with measuring and photographing your space, followed by in-depth conversations to define your needs and preferences. You’ll be guided through layout ideas, materials, and refinements over one or more working sessions.
3. Purchasing Phase
Selections finalized and procurement managed with care.
Once selections are approved, we handle the details — proposals, purchasing, and tracking. You’ll enjoy peace of mind knowing every item is sourced and managed on your behalf.
4. Installation & Delivery
White glove service to bring your design to life.
We coordinate professional delivery and installation with elegance and precision. Every piece is placed with intention — the final layer of your beautifully curated space.
